Material & Finish Options for Power Plant Fasteners

Power plant fasteners are designed for structural integrity, thermal resistance, and long-term performance in demanding environments such as turbine bases, pipe racks, cooling systems, and transformer foundations.

Materials commonly include carbon steel for general anchoring and alloy steel for high-tensile applications involving dynamic loads and heat exposure. Stainless steel may be specified in corrosion-sensitive areas such as coastal installations or chemical-handling zones.

For protective finishes, Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG) remains the most widely used coating in power generation projects, offering resistance to moisture, salt spray, and temperature fluctuations.Other finishes such as zinc plating, mechanical galvanizing, or DACROMET may be chosen based on location-specific corrosion exposure and coating thickness requirements.

Where electrical conductivity or tamper resistance is critical—such as control cabinet frames or grounding zones—black oxide or uncoated steel may be specified.
